How my office link to Jounals

My office relates to the projects on the Journals-Arkikektur N and Quaderns d'arquitectura i urbanisme.

The 1st floor links to Quaderns. I was inspired by the use of shallow water woth path ways. But i pushed my idea foward and used coloured poles instead of using glass walls. This is to give a nice flow with 2nd floor which has lots of coloured soft-form patterned walls.
And I saw a building staircase that had vivid colour of orange on the inner-side of the stairs and plain black on the outsides. This colour layout gave such an impact I tried it on my office building as well. Also the building itself used the same technique as the staircase. It had plain format of a design but added contrasting colours and vivid colours to give impact.(My office has a boring design structure aswell but it is covered by using patterns and colours.)

On 2nd floor is related to a Kindergarden project by Arkikektur N. I liked the use of geometrical shapes and free-formed/circular pattern holes that they've use on their Kindergarden wall. This allows kids to pass through and look outside like a door and window. Also they've used plain colour such as white and black on the front/back surface of the wall and colourful colours on the sides to show the wall's thickness. I tried doing it on Second Life, but it failed by not showing the thickness of the wall because it is used as an texture. (Although the patterns i've made by using alfa-channel was great.) So i inserted colour on the inner part of my office and outter part black instead. I liked how this use of technique relates to the technique that Quaderns has used.

1st floor and 2nd floor are separated with different projects from different Journals but I have tried to make the 2 floors related as possible (as a whole building) and used the techniques on my office that they've used to build their projects.

Thank you :D

MID-DAY WITH SHADOWS

ON MID-DAY

COMPLETE!!!! ON SUNSET

Closed view (the pattern on the wall is very similiar to the pattern they've used on their kindergarden-"Arkikektur N". Also i've experimented with different shapes like rectangulars & other geometrical shapes.)

Both walls opened.

Back-view. One side is running the script becaused it's been touched

★Development stages 6

Created another alfa-channel wall.
Added webpage of Quaderns on the middle

On the picture stands i've placed the images I've scanned from "Quaderns" Journal.

I've added the glass door and it rotates whenever it is touched. (Added a touch rotation script)
I'm going to place the glass door towards left or right edge to prevent the door rotating on the middle (like the image above)

Made another alfa-channel image to make an enterance. Going to place a glass door.

★Development stages 5

Mid-way from completion!
It automatically close after 3seconds.

Wide open.

Open seaseme! The wall slides open when the walls are touched. (touch moving script)

Alfa-channel used again to give texture on the wall

★Development stages 4

on the 2nd floor

The elevator goes up quiet slowing this is because to show my blog while the avatar is on the elevator

Elevator script. When the elevator is on the 2nd floor, touch the left green pole beside the yellow pole. It will call the elevator down. And to go up, the avatar must sit on the base. And a little screen will pop up which you have to click (either 1st floor or 2nd floor)

Teleport Script. I'ved added a teleport script for quicker way to the sofa/webpage area.
Occurs when the Yellow pole is right-clicked and clicked on teleport.

(On second life hovering text script will guide you)

webpages displayed on spheres. These glow and works as LEDs.
They rotate around (rotation script)

( alpha channael) wall + furniture (computer="Housing & Planning yearbook" research on voyager; magazines= "Housing & Planning yearbook" Journal and "Arkitektur N" Journal)

★Deveolpment stages 3

I worked on alfa-channels to make the walls to go transparent.
These circular shapes are inspired by a project from "Arkitektur N" Journal
i added a stair on the 2nd floor- added green
own made furniture and added teleport script on the armrest.

added colour and added websites and insert alfa-channel image on the wall.
Some of the pictures are to be touched to load a webpage with more detailed information.
(touch load URL script)

other side

i changed the wall format with combining poles. it'll give more flow with downstairs atmosphere

★Devolpment stages 2

fully blocked wall but i thought if i make it as the way its built it won't have a nice flow with the 1st floor(with poles) so i am going to alter the wall format
i made the flaps on top to make 1st step of the wall

having free forms - unexpected forms

made a hole for elevator

2nd floor base

research & what i thought about Quaderns

Disseny de Quaderns d'arquitectura i urbanisme (2004-07) i part de Trauma (comité editorial)
Design of Architecture Magazine, Quaderns (CoAC) (2004-07)

I couldn't find English version webpage/magazine of this serial so i don't have much written information but i have got some pictures that i inspired me.

I love how Quadern uses natural resources such as water. By combining with glass like material , it looks more clear and fresh. In my office design i am going to try combination of glass and water. Another thing i like was the fact that they expressed their building by contrasting colours. They added vivid colours beside white or black to make the building standout though the design is not that aesthetically pleasing.

what i thought about Arkitektur N

I searched through the magazines in the library and found this brilliant project of a kindergarden. i love the architect use various soft pastel colours with geometrical forms and free forms.

To deveolpe this idea i went to Sylvia Park to see the poles they have used similarly to Arkitektur N

research-Arkitektur N

The kindergarten is organized in a number of longitudinal zones from the exterior playground, the roofed outdoor terraces that gives a good micro climate (very important in our rough climate), ‘the indoor street’ with water-play areas and a winter garden feel to it, the bases and to the innermost reading nooks and mezzanines. These zones contribute to make a soft transition from the exterior to the interior spaces – from the exposed wide landscape to the intimate zones.
The ‘rough’ wardrobes, the kitchen and the playing rooms are peeking out of the facade. The four bases each have an inner wardrobe which also can be used as a play area. The bases can be opened or closed off towards the indoor street and wardrobes, and each have two adjustable playing walls. The reading nooks and mezzanines are more intimate spaces for quieter activities.
The kindergartens have been built to have the possibility of variety in the use of rooms. With very simple moves one can change each room into new rooms of various sizes and functions. There are several options for combinations and joint actions of rooms and spaces. Flexibility is also guaranteed by the inner walls in every base station (fixed in one end, and wheels on the other). They can be turned like indicators round an axis and be put in different positions and make various smaller rooms in the big base room. Furniture and toys are partly integrated into the wall system so the floor area can be as free as possible: long drawing tables, climbing walls and puppet theatre are all parts of the playing walls.

bird's eyeview
i've place a solid wall to put my blog
I used Green, Lime, Yellow for my design
instead of having many primary colours
I used poles to develop the design of the project i saw
on "Arkitektur N" Journal (kindergarden project)
This is the shapes i used for the base of my office
and i've placed shallow water asaide like the project i've seen in "Quadern" Journal
